About Brachly:

Branchly (branchly.com) is an accessible and multilingual platform that unites a community of clinicians, researchers, caregivers, self-advocates, and healthcare associations. We are highly focused on serving people who have been designated as populations with health disparities by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). These NIH-designated populations include people with disabilities, racial and ethnic minority groups, people with lower socioeconomic status, underserved rural communities, and sexual and gender minority groups. These populations typically have the most difficulty finding the appropriate services with clinicians who they are comfortable with and experience significant disparities in their rates of illness, morbidity, mortality, and survival, driven by social disadvantage, compared to the health status of the general population. With a commitment to improving the healthcare journey for all, Branchly strives to unite a fragmented system in order to offer those seeking specialized services access to trustworthy information and a centralized database of interdisciplinary professionals. We do this by offering directory services, continuing education opportunities, and marketing services for our esteemed healthcare partners and educators.

Job Description:

Branchly is seeking a Community Outreach and Communications Intern with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills who is passionate about helping populations with health disparities find the services they need. The primary focus of this role is to build upon our existing network of partners and clinicians who can provide skilled and compassionate care for underserved communities by various methodologies which may include organizing continuing education events, digital marketing, content creation, interviews, and direct outreach. This individual will therefore be proactive, creative, independent yet collaborative, and technologically adept.

What We're Offering:

  • An opportunity to grow marketable skills while supporting a digital health startup that is using technology for good
  • A flexible and supportive environment where your skills and expertise will be valued and appreciated
  • Deep insight into current challenges and opportunities in healthcare from experienced clinicians
  • Leadership Opportunities (i.e. all interns will present about an area in their advanced knowledge or research a new area of interest)
  • Skill Building (social media, content marketing, SEO, analytics, web development, Canva, Airtable, digital platform, Slack)

In this role, you will gain experience in:

  • Applying strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to help promote the growth of Branchly’s community of healthcare providers, clinical educators, associations, self-advocates, and caregivers.
  • Facilitating engagement with strategic networks of healthcare and promoting awareness of Branchly’s services, clinical community, and events
  • Supporting initiatives with partners and providing administrative, technical, and analytical assistance
  • Assisting in promoting the mission of Branchly and engaging with the clinical community in multiple ways including direct outreach, clinic visits, social media, content creation, email, and web posts
  • Engaging in community outreach events and projects aimed at providing continuing education opportunities and onboarding new clinicians into the Branchly community
  • Supporting clinicians in onboarding and profile management
  • Enhancing the website to attract our target audience
  • Developing content and outreach materials to inform others about Branchly’s services, clinician community, and events via web, social media, and print.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development, marketing, and video creation for clinician continuing education summits and virtual grand rounds, which will be newly launched in spring 2025 in coordination with UTHealth School of Dentistry.
  • Review our onboarding email sequence and update it as needed with videos, images, and links that encourage clinicians to complete their profiles and upgrade if desired.
  • Perform an audit of Branchly clinician profiles and perform outreach to clinicians with incomplete profiles.
  • Create short videos that promote our partners and share them on social media.
  • Design and schedule six pieces of branded social media content per week using Canva and our brand guidelines suitable for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Assist in developing and sending out two email newsletters every month to three audiences (clinicians, educators, and families).
  • Explore the use of YouTube for sharing videos.
  • Monitor weekly analytics for all active campaigns using tools like Google Analytics.
  • Conduct research on competitor brands and summarize findings into a report.

Qualifications

  • Proactive, compassionate, and adaptable
  • Well-organized with the ability to work independently and collaboratively using creative problem-solving skills, anticipating project needs, and discerning work priorities
  • Technologically adept and open to learning new platforms
  • Excellent written skills and experience and/or interest in digital content creation, social media copywriting and asset coordination
  • Basic understanding of social media, community outreach, and/or project management, preferably in a healthcare-focused or community-oriented setting
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to interview people with active listening techniques
  • Preferred previous experience in event planning or community outreach
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
  • Ideally suited for students who are currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Health, Pre-Healthcare, Communications, Social Work, Marketing, Business, or Community Development

Additional Requirements:

  • Regular and reliable job attendance with moderately flexible work hours and accountability for weekly deliverables and scheduled team meetings
  • Reliable computer and internet access
  • Exhibit confidentiality, respect, and understanding of others while establishing professional relationships and representing Branchly during community outreach
  • Professional attire is expected while interacting with the Branchly community and partners
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including ability, gender, and race
