Salary: $6,679 - $10,092 (Per month)

 

The role: 

We are looking for a talented and motivated business systems analyst to join the ODOT Information Systems team in Salem. In this role, you will be responsible for thoroughly understanding highway maintenance and operations processes and information systems. You will also support traveler safety and mobility applications, such as TripCheck, as well as applications for managing the agency's fleet vehicles and performing highway maintenance activities. Hybrid remote work options available! Most of this work may be conducted remotely at an alternate worksite with a private workspace, broadband internet connection and full access to the needed operating systems and technology. However, there are times when the work will be required to be performed at the Salem office building. To be considered, you must be able to go into the Salem office on short notice for business needs and be within a reasonable commuting distance if hired since travel expenses to the office are not reimbursed.

A day in the life:

  • Document As-Is and To-Be operational processes.
  • Meet with users to elicit and document system requirements.
  • Conduct market research for potential system solutions that would meet business operational needs.
  • Develop detailed business cases that assess the current system, identify its shortcomings, define benefits gained from a new system and evaluate alternative solution options.
  • Define the test strategy and plan for medium to large information system projects.
  • Develop and run test cases, log and track system bugs and retest after fixes are released.
  • Determine and present alternative options for complicated issues.
  • Use data query tools to gather data for analysis tasks, update database models and document definitions in the data dictionary.
  • Develop training materials and user manuals.
  • Collaborate with project team members to design system functions, user interfaces and workflow.
  • Work in an office environment with hybrid work options available – travel may be required primary within Oregon with occasional need for overnights.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Six (6) years of experience performing business process and system analyst tasks for software applications;

OR

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of experience performing business process and system analyst tasks for software applications;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of experience performing business process and system analyst tasks for software applications;

OR

  • Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

  • Experience eliciting and documenting system requirements for a project that resulted in a new system being implemented.
  • Experience writing and executing test cases using Azure Test Plans is preferred.
  • Experience as lead author documenting the business case and defining the scope of work, costs, and time estimates for a system solution.
  • Experience presenting to management complicated issues with alternative mitigation options.
