Material Take-Off/Jr Estimator (Construction)
Overview
H&L Contracting LLC is looking for an experienced Material Takeoff Specialist/Associate Estimator acting as a key part of the pre-construction phase to estimate costs by quantifying materials needed across all lines of the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review construction plans and blueprints to determine an accurate list of the items and quantities needed for each project.
Create spreadsheets that can calculate, compare, and summarize quantities of construction materials.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers prior to starting takeoff to discuss estimated costs associated with the project and completion timelines.
Maintain organized records, working drawings, and take-off summaries.
Review project status and update the scope of materials as needed.
Qualifications:
BA in Engineering or Construction Management
2+ years of experience performing material takeoffs
Heavy Highway & Marine Contractor experience is a plus
Demonstrated knowledge of construction documents-Plans, Detailed Drawings and Specifications
Strong attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word & Excel
Knowledge using Carlson and Bluebeam takeoff software

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Marine surveyor-Training Available
Overview
This position supports dredging projects and specializes in precise positioning of equipment, and acquisition/processing of data in marine environments. Responsible for performing hydrographic surveys, topographic surveys, maintaining positioning instrumentation on dredging vessels, excavators, and bulldozers.
We are seeking a Surveyor based in NY who is able and willing to travel to various locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts single-beam and multi-beam hydrographic surveys as well as regular topographic surveys in support of dredging.
Install and maintain accuracy of instrumentation on company dredges and survey vessels.
Sets up, adjusts, and operates survey equipment in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
Operates survey boats.
Gathers survey data utilizing HYPACK .
Collects and processes data through the use of (GPS).
Possess average computer skills.
Maintain log of daily activities.
1-2 years of experience in hydrographic surveying, in both single-beam and multi-beam, as well as topographic surveys.
