Internship Program Overview:
Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries' Research and Development and Product Line Organizations are looking for students with experience in gallium nitride (GaN) devices and/or magnetics. We are seeking experience in device engineering and/or TCAD/Spice simulations for these power devices. Successful applicants will join the gfLABS team and partner with experts in power devices. Students in Masters or Ph.D. programs are strongly preferred.
Essential Responsibilities include:
In-depth study on bidirectional GaN switch devices: assess the key technology options, tradeoffs and requirements across voltage ranges for different end applications.
In-depth study of integrated magnetics technologies for power applications. Assessment of fundamental performance limits of deposited magnetics technology, and suitability of either monolithic or heterogenous integration with CMOS technologies.
Assessment of process and design impact on existing technology baseline.
Close cooperation with gfLabs, Product Development and design teams to assess the feasibility of device demonstration.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
Actively pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D in engineering or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior related internship or co-op experience
Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning & organizational skills
