Overview of Vesta
Vesta is creating pathways to financial empowerment for everyone, starting with immigrant retirement savings. Founded in 2024, our secure digital platform automates ITIN enrollment and retirement savings for gig workers, freelancers, and those who earn cash income. By connecting users to immigrant-friendly financial products, Vesta fosters long-term prosperity and builds a more inclusive financial future.

Position Overview
The Engineering Intern will work closely with the Co-founder & COO, Yanjaa Munkhbat, to develop and refine Vesta’s technology platforms. This role will involve building an MVP solution for retirement products, creating a secure document-sharing system, and supporting the long-term development of a robust tech platform. This is a full internship with a stipend and requires 35 hours per week for 10 weeks during the summer of 2025.

Specific Responsibilities
MVP Development: Assist in creating a low-code solution for retirement product enrollment, integrating Typeform, Calendly, Zapier, and other automation tools.
Retirement Platform Development: Contribute to a code-based platform that enables secure logins, information sharing, product enrollment, automated translation, and enhanced data security.
Retirement MVP Build: Support the development of a user-friendly tool to help ITIN households connect with banking and retirement accounts.
Full-Stack Development:
Front-end: React development and user experience optimization.
Back-end: Database management, cloud hosting (AWS, Google Cloud), and API integration.
Automation & Security: Implement Zapier, PDF.io, and secure document-sharing features.
Project Collaboration: Work alongside product and business teams to ensure seamless functionality and usability.
Other Duties: You may be asked to complete additional tasks or projects not included in this description. Be open and nimble. We’re a start-up with ever-evolving needs.

Qualifications
Experience or coursework in software development, computer science, or a related field.
Knowledge of front-end (React) and back-end development.
Having a background in building front-end interfaces from prototypes is a plus.
Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, database management, and secure document handling.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for using technology to solve financial inclusion challenges.
Excitement to work for an early-stage start-up focused on scaling quickly and social impact.
Immigrants and those from low-income backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Spanish, Arabic, French, Mandarin or Cantonese as a second language is a plus. 

Hours & Schedule
Hours are flexible but must be agreed upon with your supervisor.
Work will be hybrid, meaning both virtual and in-person in our offices at 150 Court St in Brooklyn.
There may be an option to continue working with our team beyond the internship based on performance and budget.
