Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineering Intern to help establish the cloud computing infrastructure for our company. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about data engineering, cloud computing, and AI-driven applications in healthcare and life sciences. You will work closely with our engineering and AI teams to develop, optimize, and deploy cloud-based data pipelines and AI applications.

Key Responsibilities:
• Cloud Infrastructure Setup: Assist in designing and setting up cloud computing infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to support QMed’s AI-driven applications.
• Data Pipeline Development: Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines using cloud-based tools.
• AI Integration: Support the deployment of AI models by integrating machine learning workflows with cloud computing environments.
• Database Management: Work with structured and unstructured data, managing cloud databases such as BigQuery, PostgreSQL, or DynamoDB.
• Automation & Optimization: Develop scripts and workflows to automate ETL processes, monitor performance, and improve efficiency.
• Security & Compliance: Assist in implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance with healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).

Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Experience with Python and knowledge of other relevant programming languages (SQL, Bash, etc.).
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-based data storage solutions.
• Understanding of data engineering concepts, including ETL pipelines, data lakes, and streaming data processing.
• Experience with AI/ML model deployment in cloud environments is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Interest in healthcare, life sciences, and AI-driven solutions.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or serverless computing.
• Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of big data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) and workflow orchestration tools (Airflow).
• Understanding of AI/ML model optimization for cloud deployment.
