Internal Communications Intern

We are looking for an Internal Communications Intern to fill a full-time, paid, remote, 10-week internship beginning on Monday, June 2. Location is flexible to anywhere within the US.

The Global Internal Communications team at The Nature Conservancy is responsible for delivering internal communications that inspire employees to action, drive an inclusive culture; support TNC’s journey to integrate, transform and grow. As a team uniquely positioned to see the bigger picture, we demonstrate the value of communications in helping staff around the globe feel a sense of purpose and connection to each other, their leaders and TNC’s mission and 2030 Goals.

The intern will contribute creative ideas and support the development and execution of key projects and campaigns, including supporting the launch of a new intranet homepage, the rollout of refreshed branding, and high-profile systems changes including TNC's migration to Workday ERP. Additionally, they will help maintain and update content on internal communication platforms, including the company intranet and employee portals. The intern will assist in writing and editing materials such as newsletters, announcements, and news articles that will be distributed to staff.

Under the guidance of Director of Global Internal Communications and the day-to-day supervision of the Digital Internal Communications Specialist, the Internal Communications intern will have the opportunity to apply communications skills to inform, inspire and connect staff from across the globe. A work plan with accessible achievements for the duration of the Internship and learning opportunities will be agreed upon.

As the Internal Communications Intern, you will:

  • Assist in writing and editing internal communications materials like newsletters, announcements, and news articles. 
  • Contribute creative ideas and assist in the development and execution of internal communication campaigns.
  • Help maintain and update internal communication platforms like company intranet, employee portals, and other internal communication channels. 
  • Elevate the internal communications brand by researching and recommending best practices in internal communications and prepare reports for the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for an Internal Communications Intern to fill a paid 10-week summer internship. Eligible candidates include current undergraduate students or recent graduates (within the past year). This US-based position can be home-based or hybrid, offering a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and real-world work. We offer an orientation, professional networking opportunities, and hands-on work experience. 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program of communications, marketing, or related field, or a recent graduate with a degree in one of these or a related field.
  • Knowledge of/interest in design principles, employee engagement, internal communications, and web content management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in research, writing, and editing 
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated initiative.
  • Creative, flexible, and adaptable to change.
  • Access to a reliable internet connection

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Coursework and/or exposure related to communications/marketing
  • Self-starter, taking initiative, and demonstrating confidence to ask questions, seek input and make decisions independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
  • Demonstrated ability to produce impactful presentations and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Microsoft Teams preferred. 
  • Strong process, analytical, problem solving and time management skills, including the ability to manage concurrent deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to new environments and to establish and maintain good working relations with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

 

This is a full-time, remote, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 2 to August 8, 2025.

INTERN SELECTION PROCESS

  • Applications will be screened for eligibility, qualifications and experience level related to the Internship

SALARY INFORMATION

 

The pay for a candidate selected for this position is $17/hr.
