Summer Intern, Antibody Screening Technologies

About Our Internship Program 

Our interns provide valuable support to our teams as we work to expand access to the most diverse antibody repertoires and cutting-edge screening technologies.   

Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment and impactful work to our interns as well as learning and development opportunities. This is a 10-week program which offers an internship project and a platform for our interns to share their work with the organization. Our interns will be encouraged to drive their projects and network within the organization, but they will also have a dedicated Intern Manager and Intern Advocate to offer guidance and support throughout the program. 

  

About This Role 

We’re seeking a Summer Intern, Antibody Screening Technologies who will contribute to developing and executing technology refinements to xPloration, our single-cell, high-throughput platform. The individual will work in our Screening team, which focuses on performing high-throughput screening to identify and characterize therapeutic antibodies. The individual will bridge software, hardware, and wetlab to support screening and develop new workflow refinements. The ideal candidate should have prior hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory setting, software programing, and strong communication skills. Additionally, the candidate should possess enthusiasm to learn complex systems and assays, coupled with a passion for therapeutic biology research. 

This role reports to the VP, Discovery Systems. 

Please note: Our program will begin mid-June and end mid-late August. This is an onsite position based out of Emeryville, CA. This is a full-time position, and the office hours are within 8am-5pm PT. 

  

What You’ll Do 

  • Optimize screening workflows to facilitate high-throughput screening. 
  • Craft and refine experimental protocols for robust and reproducible results. 
  • Dive into single-cell antibody discovery techniques. 
  • Gain hands-on experience in this cutting-edge field. 
  • Learn how to plan, execute, and analyze experiments. 
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals and subject matter experts. 
  • Present your work at the annual Internship Showcase. 

 

What You Bring 

  • Currently pursuing a BSc (3rd year+) in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or another relavent field. 
  • Prior experience in a molecular biology laboratory setting. 
  • Strong experience (>1 year) with programming languages (Python or R)  
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others in the lab. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise. 
  • Effective management of time and resources to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and fellow lab members. 
  • Passion for therapeutic biology research and a willingness to acquire new skills. 

  

Nice To Have 

  • Understanding statistical methods commonly used in molecular biology research. 

  

The base compensation range for this position is $20 - $30 per hour. The range provided is an estimate. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
