Accounting and Finance Intern

Summary
Lidl US is searching for the next Intern to join our Accounting & Finance team! The Accounting & Finance Intern will provide support in a variety of functions across the department and collaborate with other areas of the business to increase the efficiency of key processes. This role will assist with streamlining processes to support the business for future growth. The Intern will participate in optimizing liquidity planning allowing more flexibility for future investments with the support of team members.

 

*** This position reports to our Headquarters in Arlington, VA on a hybrid 3-day schedule. ***

 

What You’ll Do

Essential Functions

  • Streamline processing and payment of rent together with Real Estate HQ
  • Evaluate the impact of new model on planning; analyze results and research further optimizations
  • Research current equipment installation checklist and bridge gap to Accounting records to ensure complete & accurate Fixed Asset inventory per store
  • Full review of audit for required documentation (NVF & W9)
  • Research & analyze opportunities to minimize approval time to ensure on-time payment
  • Evaluate potential to extend terms to further optimize liquidity

 

What You’ll Need

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software 
  • Ability to commit to a full-time work schedule (40 hours per week)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, array formulas, macros, and VBA) for complex data analysis and financial modeling
  • Exposure to Finance software and tools such as AP FI, GePart, ITS, LiSY
  • Overall knowledge of AP workflow, Fixed Asset Management, Cash Flow Forecasting
  • Collaboration and cross-functional process understanding

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience 

  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting and/or Finance, Business, or related fields at an accredited College or University
  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior with a 3.0 or higher-grade point average

Physical Job Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
