Intern, Indirect Tax
Job description:
MMC is seeking 2-3 interns to join our Indirect Tax team, starting immediately at our Mid-Town Manhattan location (with some hybrid work options available). This co-op assignment can extend until graduation, offering the opportunity to work 15-20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, and full-time during the summer and school breaks. Your specific work schedule can be tailored at the beginning of the program to accommodate your academic commitments. MMC is dedicated to providing a significant paid work experience for co-op students and expects a reciprocal professional commitment in all aspects of performance from participants.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting Tax Seniors/Managers in the preparation of indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, business license tax and other related filings.
- Supporting the team in conducting research on indirect tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Preparing and maintaining Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
- Performing administrative and miscellaneous tasks, including filing and copying.
Requirements: We are actively seeking applicants majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Math, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Enrollment in current or past tax courses and an intention to pursue an M.S. in Taxation or a related field is a plus. However, we welcome all college applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong desire to work in an indirect tax department.
The position requires strong Excel skills, proficiency in written and oral communication, and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
