Yumlish is a digital health company dedicated to enhancing nutrition literacy and physical activity among underserved communities, particularly focusing on individuals managing chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Yumlish collaborates with employers, health plans, and grocers to provide personalized, web-and-text-based nutrition education and culturally relevant dietary recommendations. Our mission is to empower clients with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve positive health outcomes.

Responsibilities:
The ideal communications intern:
- Writes articles and blogs for newsletters, websites and web-based platforms
- Ensures brand consistency in PR, marketing, and social media messages
- Ensures all content is factual, accurate, and rooted in dietetics and public health
- Responds to requests for information
- Updates and maintains web content
- Develops advocacy and communication materials in line with the mission of the organization
- Builds familiarity with long- and short-form content, whitepapers, blog posts, SEO-friendly writing, for both B2B audiences as well as B2C
- Quickly learns and executes work using a consistent brand voice.
- Is able to write a cohesive campaign with multiple touchpoints including digital, social media, and email.
- Completes any other related tasks deem necessary and appropriate.
Recommended skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with public health, nutrition, or dietetics topics
- Strong research skills and attention to factual accuracy
- Basic knowledge of web content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a mission-driven environment
The intern will be supervised by their manager and will receive mid-point evaluation along with weekly meetings. This internship is unpaid, but can be used for class credit or as a resume builder.
