 Maintenance Specialist

This is a Part-time, NON- permanent position. Hours depend on an event schedule including weekends and holidays.

JOB PURPOSE:

Under direct supervision, in a team, or independently, performs maintenance duties necessary for event venues (Legare Waring House or Founders Hall) on Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, as well as general maintenance on Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site when venue tasks are completed. Performs diverse duties as determined by general instruction, policies, and standard operating procedures of the Department. This includes but is not limited to cleaning, assisting clients/vendors with the venue equipment/appliances, maintaining and servicing venue equipment/facilities, landscaping, transporting supplies/equipment to venues, etc. 

 

1) Performs basic facility and infrastructure maintenance, repairs improvements and assists with more involved tasks and projects (including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.). 

2) Performs basic grounds maintenance and improvements and assists with more involved tasks and projects (including groundskeeping, landscaping, etc.). 

3) Performs clean-up, janitorial, and housekeeping activities. 

4) Assists in identifying maintenance needs, planning & scheduling maintenance activities, and maintaining applicable maintenance records. 

5) Practice and promote teamwork within the park and/or region, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma and/or one (1) year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

** Candidates MUST specifically meet these required qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Position requires operating fork lift, medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s License and pass background check.
