Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead STEAM Teacher to join our team for the 2025 Summer TechTurnUp Program. As a Lead Teacher, you will take a central role in guiding and inspiring students through engaging and hands-on STEAM lessons. You will lead the design and execution of curriculum, mentor junior teachers, and ensure that the program runs smoothly at your assigned site.
This position requires a passion for STEAM education, strong leadership skills, and the ability to connect with and inspire young learners.
Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership:
Lead and co-lead STEAM lessons, ensuring high-quality, student-centered instruction for K-12 students. Encourage active learning through project-based activities and hands-on learning experiences.

Curriculum Design:
Collaborate with the program director and other staff to develop and customize STEAM curricula that align with program goals and student needs.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Mentor and guide Junior STEAM Teachers and volunteers, providing support in lesson delivery and classroom management. Help develop a cohesive and effective teaching team.

Program Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for the site director, parents, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on program progress and student outcomes.

Student Engagement:
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Assessment and Feedback:
Monitor student progress and provide feedback on their development throughout the program. Help evaluate the success of the curriculum and suggest improvements.

Safety and Supervision:
Ensure the safety, well-being, and active engagement of all students during program hours.

Collaboration:
Work closely with other instructors, volunteers, and program staff to ensure smooth program operations and the achievement of learning objectives.

Technology Management:
Oversee the use and maintenance of classroom technology (e.g., Chromebooks, projectors, etc.) to enhance the learning experience.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEAM-related field (e.g., Education, Engineering, Science, Technology, or Arts) required. Advanced degrees or certifications in education are a plus.

Experience:
- 2+ years of experience teaching or working with K-12 students, particularly in a STEAM or similar educational setting.
- Proven experience in leading or mentoring teaching teams.
- Experience in creating and delivering engaging, hands-on lessons for students.

- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Expertise in STEAM-related tools, concepts, and programs (e.g., Scratch, robotics, coding, design thinking).
- Ability to collect, analyze, and present data to measure student learning outcomes.
- Comfortable working with diverse student groups and fostering an inclusive environment.

Preferred:
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with tools like Scratch coding, basic coding concepts, and project-based learning methods.
- Bilingual/multilingual skills are a plus.
