Job Summary

 

This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies.

We're looking for a learning and development specialist who is passionate about supporting employee professional development. This position helps our agency carry out its commitment to fostering a productive, innovative, and healthy work environment by providing opportunities for employees to gain skills and information they need to succeed in their current and future roles. This position will assess needs, design, develop, and deliver engaging agency-wide training. Training topics will include on-the-job skills and interpersonal skills. They will promote professional development opportunities to employees in creative and engaging ways. Additionally, they will administer and promote use of LinkedIn Learning which is a premier online learning platform with over 10,000 courses available.

This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering county along the Minnesota state line. Effective June 1, employees living within 75 miles of the office will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 75 or more miles away, the requirements are currently being assessed for each agency.

Qualifications

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of training and development experience, one of which should be related to interpersonal and on-the-job skills training (a bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Human Resources Development, Business, or other related field will count as 1 year of experience), including: assessing organizational needs and determining training gaps, determining delivery methods, designing training content, delivering training in-person and virtually, evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Experience with the administrative functions of LinkedIn Learning or other online learning platform. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively present ideas and information and to build collaborative relationships with partners. 
  • Proficient computer and technology skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with internal subject-matter-experts (SMEs) as an internal consultant, identifying effective training solutions to fill employee skill gaps.
  • Experience designing and delivering training on customer service, business writing, research skills, project management, or workplace systems and processes.
  • Certifications and/or experience as a facilitator of development tools and assessments such as Insights Discovery, Clifton Strengths, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Thomas Kilman Instrument (TKI), or others similar in nature.
  • Experience delivering training in a hybrid work environment.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer and portable printer. 

Additional Requirements

Prior to an offer of employment, a background check will be conducted. This will include, but is not limited to checking degrees and licensures, criminal history, and tax filing and payment history. All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.
