
Reading Intervention Teacher 25-26
Equality Charter School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable and talented Reading Intervention Teacher who is passionate about meeting the literacy needs of struggling early adolescent scholars. We are looking for a reading teacher who knows how to build trusting relationships with struggling readers and who knows how to meet their literacy needs. The ideal candidate is adaptive in nature, has a positive approach to hard work, and is relentless in their pursuit of seeing every child become a reader.
Required Duties
- Build trusting relationships with struggling readers
- Develop and deliver small group lessons that meet the targeted needs of scholars (some decoding, some fluency, some comprehension groups)
- Apply best practices of multi-sensory structured literacy, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and reading science to all instructional plans
- Support testing of all scholars to identify struggling readers and determine their needs throughout the school year
- Analyze assessment data to create reading groups, develop schedules, determine instructional needs, lesson plans, and progress monitoring
- Administer ongoing reading assessments to monitor progress of remediation efforts
- Collaborate with classroom teachers around teaching reading and supporting students in the mainstream setting
- Communicate with parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other Reading Intervention Teachers to ensure programs support each other and align appropriately across school divisions
- Lead or co-lead literacy-focused professional development sessions, as needed
Qualifications
- Documented training and experience in teaching reading with Orton-Gillingham based practises, or Wilson Language System (or similar structured literacy programs)
- Experience with conducting and analyzing reading assessments and data
- Experience with the following programs and assessments are a plus: Acadience Reading Measures or DIBELS, UFLI Foundations, Ascend Smarter Intervention, EL Education, LETRS etc.
Salary & Benefits
- Bachelors only- 68k-85k
- Masters only-76k-93k
- All classroom and school-setting Reading Intervention experience will be considered
