Director of CCBHC Quality, Compliance, and Informatics

POSITION TITLE: Director of CCBHC Quality, Compliance, and Informatics 

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer   

DIRECT REPORTS: Medical Records Supervisor, Quality and Risk Management Specialist, Information Technology Administrator 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt; regular full-time; employment-at-will position.   

SCHEDULE: The work schedule will generally conform to that of a full-time Monday-Friday 40-hour-per-week schedule to be performed within the Center’s hours of operation.  This is a hybrid position: employee may opt to work remotely up to two days a week.  

PURPOSE: The Director of CCBHC Quality, Compliance, and Informatics is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for aligning care delivery with the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, optimizing the electronic health record (EHR) system, and using data to support clinical and operational decision-making in alignment with Kanza’s mission and strategic goals. This role demands autonomy, strategic insight, and technical expertise in data integrity, reporting, and EHR administration. The Director leads system enhancements and ensures compliance with evolving clinical and regulatory requirements. Strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential. The ideal candidate champions continuous quality improvement, risk management, and innovation—driving service excellence and ensuring Kanza meets the evolving needs of the community. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Electronic Health Record Specialist: 

Implements and maintains electronic health record systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards. 

Provides training and support to healthcare staff on EHR usage and best practices. 

Analyzes data and generates reports to assess performance and identify areas for improvement. 

Collaborates with IT teams to troubleshoot technical issues related to EHR systems. 

Ensures the security and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. 

Stays updated on EHR trends and technologies to recommend, and implements enhancements & upgrades. 

Risk Management and Continuous Quality Improvement:  

Provides supervision, guidance, and support to the Quality Assurance and Risk Management Specialist, as well as to staff involved in data collection, analysis, and reporting initiatives. 

Utilizes data-driven insights to inform and implement strategies that enhance service delivery and improve client outcomes. 

Identifies, assesses, and prioritizes organizational risks across all operations, and aligns Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives to proactively address those risks. 

Ensures organizational compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and internal policies and procedures. 

Monitors and evaluates key performance metrics to detect trends, uncover opportunities for improvement, and support data-informed decision-making. 

Coordinates the accurate and timely preparation and submission of reports required by grant funders, licensing bodies, and other external stakeholders. 

Medical Records:  

Provides strategic supervision and leadership to the Medical Records Supervisor and department staff to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 

Evaluates and implements innovative technologies and systems to enhance the efficiency, security, and accessibility of medical record storage and retrieval. 

Oversees and manages the medical records department budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and alignment with organizational priorities. 

Stays current on emerging industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements to guide continuous improvement and maintain best-in-class medical records practices. 

Ensures the organization’s privacy and data management standards meet or exceed all applicable federal, state, and industry-specific confidentiality and security requirements related to health records. 

Information Technology: 

Provides strategic leadership and oversight to the Information Technology Administrator and IT department staff, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, cybersecurity protocols, and industry best practices. 

Oversees and supports the implementation and maintenance of technology solutions that effectively meet the evolving needs of staff and enhance operational efficiency. 

Collaborates with departmental managers to assess and plan for the organization’s network growth, infrastructure maintenance, and long-term technology strategies. 

Partners with external agencies and vendors to ensure the organization's network infrastructure adheres to healthcare industry standards, delivers optimal performance, and upholds the highest levels of security and data protection.  

General Organizational Responsibilities: 

Ensures the performance of direct and indirect reports aligns with organizational expectations and defined roles. 

Acts as a mentor and coach, fostering professional development among staff. 

Leads departmental budgeting and financial oversight with a strong focus on fiscal responsibility, ensures alignment with organizational priorities, and maintains a clear commitment to financial viability, accountability, and sustainability. 

Collaborates closely with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and strategic direction. 

Participates on the Quality Improvement and Risk Management Committee to identify, assess, and mitigate organizational risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of safety and accountability.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Bachelor's (Master's preferred) in a healthcare-related field 

Electronic Health Record experience required 

Two plus years of experience in a management or leadership role.  

Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.  

Valid unrestricted driver’s license.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Remaining stationery, such as standing or sitting, for prolonged periods.  

Frequently moving from one worksite to another to accomplish tasks.  

Adjusting or moving objects up to 10 pounds in any direction.  

Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers.  

Communicating with others to exchange information.  

Withstanding outdoor elements such as temperature, precipitation, and wind.  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The environment is a typical office environment. While on location, work is generally performed indoors with ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment.

SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION: Salary commensurate with experience and Kanza MHGC salary structure.  

PRIMARY LOCATION: Hiawatha Main Office, with the ability to travel to other office locations on a routine basis.
