Social Research Assistant I-Temporary Solutions

Description of Work

 

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position.  All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.  


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
 
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Commerce. This position is located at 301 N. Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27601.

This position will help with the collection, editing, and updating of information supporting the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics program.  Responsibilities may include such things as needed:
• Communicating with survey respondents through phone calls and emails. 
• Solicitation of employers to provide occupational employment and wage data for the survey 
• Reviewing information for accuracy and completeness and resolving data quality issues.
• Researching and updating respondent address and contact information 
• Utilizing data management systems to enter, upload, query, and review information. 
• Utilizing Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Excel for the formatting of respondent information. 
• Processing mail including filing incoming mail and updating electronic database with information from each mailing.
• Contributing to other research tasks and projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form including making phone calls and documentation of communication.
  • Ability to utilize data management systems to enter, upload, query and review information.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products including Excel for the formatting of respondent information.
  • Ability to process mail including uploading information into database and filing physical mail.
  • Ability to review data within established program guidelines for accuracy and

 


 

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education, business, sociology, economics, psychology or related to work performed from an appropriately accredited institution; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience involving collecting, interpreting, and reporting of statistical or social or economic data; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
