Motion Planning & Controls Engineering Intern

Role Summary:
- The candidate will be placed in an interdisciplinary team working towards autonomous driving functions.
- The intern will research and develop path-following and vehicle motion planning algorithm.
- The internship offers hands-on experience in evaluating and implementing algorithms to enhance vehicle control smoothness.
Role Responsibilities:
- Engage in a motion planning project encompassing online path replanning and control signal optimization.
- Research and assess various motion controller algorithms.
- Implement and refine algorithms in C++ using quadratic programming framework.
- Integrate and optimize source code for prototype vehicle applications.
Qualifications:
Education-Required:
- Must be a Master’s or Ph.D. student enrolled at a University/College or Graduation date must be within the last six months.
Skills:
- Fundamental understanding of controllers such as Model Predictive Control (MPC).
- Strong background in C++.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2 framework.
- Familiarity with quadratic programming frameworks or parallel programming frameworks.
- Fluent in English, German is a plus.
In San Jose, California, the hourly rates for this role are based on level of education:
- Graduate (Master’s): $38/hour
- PhD: $42/hour
