Medical Sales Rep Intern
Overview:
Medical Sales College and Icarus Medical have teamed up to provide an exciting internship for a candidate seeking a career in medical sales.
Medical Sales College has been in business for over 14 years and has placed over 4800 graduates. They offer programs across various orthopedic specialties—including knees, hips, trauma, biologics, spine, extremities, and sports medicine—along with groundwork training in sales, anatomy and terminology, and career development.
Icarus is a DME company specializing in custom bracing. The company brings together industry leaders, engineers, sales professionals and student interns to create a unique work ecosystem, driven by their mission to enable people to stay active, free from joint pain. Icarus’s technology bridges medical devices, software, and additive manufacturing to yield a new class of orthopedic bracing. The company values creative thinking, risk taking, and collaboration.
Internship Layout:
- Attend a 10-week TotalOrtho+ training program at Medical Sales College (any campus)
- Followed by a 4 week internship at Icarus’ facility in Charlottesville, VA
- 3 interns/quarter selected by Icarus
- Job offer presented after successful completion of Medical Sales College program and internship
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Sales and Clinical Education Activities: Assist experienced sales representatives with territory planning, bracing demonstrations, and educating healthcare professionals on product applications and benefits.
- Participate in Product Demonstrations and Patient Fittings: Gain hands-on experience by helping with in-clinic product demonstrations and observing custom brace fittings to understand clinical impact and proper usage.
- Strengthen Sales and Customer Engagement Skills: Practice relationship-building, consultative selling, and communication techniques through real-world interactions and mentorship from industry professionals.
- Uphold Icarus Medical’s Mission and Values: Actively contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and patient-centered care, supporting the company's goal of helping people stay active and pain-free.
Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree
- Must attend a TotalOrtho+ Program prior to the internship
- Must be willing to relocate to Portland, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Manhattan
Benefits:
- Student receives a 50% scholarship to the TotalOrtho+ Program
- Receives $2,000 stipend for the 4 weeks at Icarus facility
- Housing provided during time of internship in Charlottesville, VA
- Student receives a LOI (letter of intent) upfront
- $5,000 signing equity and $2,500 bonus at 6 and 12 months
IS AN INTERNSHIP REQUIRED TO ATTEND MSC?
No. This internship between Medical Sales College and Icarus is designed for individuals to “cut their teeth” before entering into the industry of medical sales.
