Civil Engineer - Development
POSITION INFORMATION
DGL is looking for a well-rounded civil/structural engineer to enhance the qualifications of our rapidly expanding Site & Structural Development Departments. As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require an individual to use prescribed methods, standard techniques and practices to perform various engineering assignments. Our goal is to provide an environment for engineering professionals to learn, grow and master necessary skills to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
• Reports to Development Project Managers
• 0-3 years of previous experience in civil design engineering
• Full-time, Non-Exempt
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Development Team with production duties such as design, plan preparation and bid documents
• Perform technical engineering work associated with land development and/or water resources: Stormwater Management Design, Site Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control Design
• Complete various land development and environmental permitting applications
• Perform engineering calculations and prepare plans/specifications in accordance with project requirements for agency/municipal review
• Keep direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
• Communicate with project leaders to gain a thorough understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers on project requirements
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and assist with responses to other construction questions
SKILL SET
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and contract specifications
• Experience in stormwater management design, site grading, erosion and sediment control design and building code permitting processes
• Proficiency with computer-based design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, REVIT) & familiarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to interact professionally with coworkers, clients, contractors and management
• Ability to work and balance priorities amongst multiple projects
• Outgoing, self-motivated team player
• Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals
• Valid Driver’s License required - some tasks may require travel. Time and mileage would be reimbursed (at current Ohio Department of Transportation mileage rates) based on current policies.
