This is a full-time, 11-month, 1700-hour program from September 15, 2025 - August 14, 2026. Fellows commit to a 40-hour work week, typically Monday - Friday, approximately 8:30am - 5pm, with occasional evening and weekend commitments based on project needs. 175+ of these hours are dedicated to professional development.
**Please note: Due to the full-time commitment of the Program, students enrolled in undergraduate courses between Sep 15, 2025 - Aug 14, 2026 will not be eligible to participate in the California Climate Action Corps Program.

About the California Climate Action Corps Fellowship
The California Climate Action Corps has over 400 positions available across California for the 2025-26 CCAC Fellowship. This is a climate-focused, workforce development program for emerging climate and environmental leaders. These are paid, full-time fellowships—similar to internships—but with over 175 dedicated hours for professional development and training while receiving hands-on experience in the climate field.
CCAC Fellows are matched with organizations across California to mobilize communities to take direct climate action and lead projects focused on wildfire resiliency, urban greening, and organic waste diversion and edible food recovery.

Program Benefits

Description of Duties
Join a dynamic team aiming to enhance wildfire resiliency and climate adaptation in Solano County. The Wildfire Project Coordinator focuses on empowering communities with the knowledge and tools to prepare for wildfires. As a Coordinator, you will help develop educational materials, organize community engagement events, and support vegetation management initiatives aimed at reducing wildfire risks. By collaborating with local fire safe councils, agencies, and volunteers, you will contribute to the development of sustainable land management practices and evaluate existing urban greening programs. Key outcomes include increasing community preparedness, expanding volunteerism in fire safe councils, and reducing wildfire hazards in high-risk areas, all while strengthening climate resilience in the county. This position offers hands-on experience in wildfire mitigation, community outreach, and climate action, providing an impactful opportunity to make a tangible difference in wildfire preparedness and environmental sustainability. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement educational outreach programs on wildfire preparedness, including creating multilingual social media content, videos, and handouts
- Coordinate and engage community volunteers in wildfire mitigation activities such as vegetation management, defensible space creation, and fuel reduction programs
- Collaborate with local fire safe councils, fire districts, and other partners to enhance volunteerism, update the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), and establish new fire safe councils
- Facilitate community events—such as green waste programs—to raise awareness and reduce fire fuel loads in high-risk areas
- Support urban greening initiatives and evaluate existing programs to integrate climate resilience strategies, focusing on areas vulnerable to both wildfires and extreme weather events
- Track program data and analyze results to quantify climate impact
Minimum Program Eligibility Requirements
- Live in California by August 15, 2025
- Be at least 18 years of age by August 15, 2025
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be a US Citizen, US National, or lawful US resident to participate
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
Experience in Community Outreach, Event Coordination & Planning, Graphic Design, Home Hardening/Defensible Space, Landscape Management, Microsoft Office Suite and Teams, Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration, Public Speaking/Facilitation, the ability to operate in Diverse Outdoor Conditions (rain, wind, heat, steep or uneven terrain), and Must possess a valid driver’s license. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Other valuable contributions include:
- An interest in climate change mitigation, volunteerism, or public service
- Experience with outreach, education, training, or community behavior change
- Fundamental understanding of climate change science, environmental policies in California, and/or environmental priorities
- Excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal, and speaking skills
About Solano County Office of Emergency Services
Solano OES, a division of the Sheriff's Office, serves as the Operational Area for emergency management across the county. Responsible for prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery, Solano OES works to protect property, the environment, and life safety of all individuals in the community. They collaborate closely with local agencies, businesses, non-profits, and community organizations to develop disaster plans, promote public education on disaster preparedness and resilience, provide resources during emergencies, and support post-disaster recovery efforts.
