The State of Connecticut, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) is currently recruiting for a part-time Storekeeper to join our team within the Division of Scientific Services located in Meriden, CT.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • This position is part-time, following a first shift schedule, 19.5 hours per week, and is a grant-funded position with an end date of September 30, 2027.
  • As a general recruitment, you will be recruited to work within the Forensic Biology / DNA section.
  • In this position, you will coordinate the evidence storage inventory, electronically update the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and assist with DNA extract preservation. 
  • This position will also coordinate the case file scanning project for both the laboratory and the Connecticut Office of the Chief Public Defender. 
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry boxes and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds, including but not limited to file boxes, inventory items, and lab materials that may involve repeated lifting, bending, and walking within storage and supply areas.

The Division of Scientific Services provides forensic support to local, state and federal agencies throughout Connecticut. This division is divided into three analytical sections. They are the Chemical Analysis section (including toxicology, controlled substances, and chemistry), the Forensic Biology/DNA section, and the Identification section (including computer crimes).

The laboratory also has two non-analytical sections which include: the Quality section and the Laboratory Support Services section (including administration, evidence receiving, and case management).
