JOB TITLE – Assistant Manager

DEPARTMENT – The Roof

REPORTS TO – FOH Manager/Restaurant Manager

 
SUMMARY 
The Assistant Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for supporting service execution, staff development, and the operational flow of the dining room. This role is focused on being present, proactive, and detail-oriented, setting the tone for exceptional guest experiences through strong leadership, fast decision-making, and clear communication. The Assistant Manager plays a critical role in developing team members, upholding service standards, and maintaining a high-functioning front-of-house operation.

 
JOB ENVIRONMENT 
Works primarily indoors in a busy, high-volume dining environment. Must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays, often on foot for extended periods. The role involves frequent movement throughout the dining area, close collaboration with the kitchen team, and direct interaction with guests. The pace is fast, and multitasking is essential during peak hours.


SKILLS, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Proven leadership experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting required (upscale, fine dining preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and develop high-performing teams
  • Confident floor presence with a sharp attention to service details
  • Skilled in shift pacing, labor law, and conflict resolution
  • Collaborative, organized, and calm under pressure
  • Knowledge of safety, cleanliness, and restaurant standards

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with leading, training, and supervising servers, bussers and runners, providing ongoing coaching, accountability, and growth through regular 1:1’s
  • Oversee daily service flow and dining room pacing, acting as floor leader during peak hours to maintain smooth, high-quality guest experiences
  • Onboard new hires efficiently and maintain updated training materials, checklists, and operational documentation
  • Conduct training and support the execution of service standards, culture reinforcement, and hospitality initiatives
  • Maintain dining room cleanliness, table presentation, and support program rollouts and inventory
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen to ensure seamless FOH/BOH communication, timing, and service alignment
  • Monitor labor use, staff productivity, and schedules; assist with staffing adjustments, conflict resolution, and cross-department support

COMPENSATION

$60,000 - $70,000 annually. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.

 

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

·       May be required to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends, early mornings, and holidays, to accommodate business needs

·       Takes on additional duties as required or assigned by management
