Software Development Engineering Intern

May - July 2019 • Irvine, CA

What I liked

I had an Amazing experience at Amazon, because I learned to write better code, create and present high level designs, while working with a diverse group of people.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have been there longer.

Advice

I saw this job in Handshake and got a recommendation from an alumni that I found on LinkedIn. All of these are things that were taught to me by the Career Service Center. My advice would be to always visit the Career Service Center for the best opportunity to land a job/internship.

Vendor Management

May - August 2019 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the fast pace culture, my extremely talented team, and the location. I liked that I was always kept busy whether it was my intern project or other little projects. I also liked that amazon gave interns a stipend for living and the overall pay was sufficient as well.

What I wish was different

I wish the intern program was a little more put together. It would've been nice to get actual help when it comes to finding a place to live.

Advice

I advise most people going into inernships to not be so hard on themselves. At amazon you're never going to know everything so just get use to the feeling of constantly learning.

Area Manager Intern

May - July 2021 • Braselton, GA

What I liked

I met some really great people. I was able to learn a lot from this internship about the work force in general but also about Operations.

What I wish was different

There was very little insight to what the interns would be doing over the course of the internship and that led to a lack of productivity amongst the interns.

Advice

Don't be scared to ask for direction and guidance when you need it. Your colleagues want to help you.

Software Development Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I liked that they gave me creative freedom when it came to design. It felt like they trusted me, which I felt like fostered a good communicative relationship between me and other developers on my team.

What I wish was different

I wish that it was easier to come to an agreement about design decisions. The design portion of the development lifecycle felt like it took a long time.

Advice

Don't be discouraged when your ideas are criticized. The developers around you are there to help you and challenge you to think like a full-time employee, which means that you'll have to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while.
