What I liked

Keeping customers happy delivering packages at their presence

What I wish was different

If the third-party owner actually cared about our rabbits, vans, chargers, etc.

Software Development Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Challenging, big company and tech industry experience, lots of exposure to best practices and how agile development works in teams and company settings and the setting (Seattle) was awesome to explore

What I wish was different

I wish I was given more to prepare for the tools I'd be using at the start of the internship. It was a bit of a learning curve.

Advice

Take your internship seriously from start to finish, and be smart about things. Ask questions often but make sure you've done your due diligence in trying everything before asking it.

Warehouse Associate

July - August 2019 • Hamilton, OH

What I liked

good pay, set schedule, extra hours if you wanted them, good breaks, very accommodating.

What I wish was different

The software and the device quality that the facility used was lacking and led to a big loss of time when working just waiting or troubleshooting a very unintuitive system.

Advice

If you like being able to walk around do repeated labor tasks that you get on a little device, then this is the job for you. It is very nice to zone out and work without having to interact with others too much.

Data Science Intern

June - August 2019 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

It was fun having flexibility and responsibility over a customer’s project and needs.

What I wish was different

I wish the company was more organized in their internship process and offer process.

Advice

Amazon is great as a big tech company, but I’d much prefer other companies that offer more perks (less to worry about), are more personable and more organized. They didn’t confirm my internship location until 1.5 weeks before starting, and they didn’t respond to any emails or requests to call prior to starting either.

Amazon Warehouse Associate

July - September 2019 • Sussex, NJ

What I liked

The pay was really good. Some of the staff were nice.

What I wish was different

They wouldn't have been so strict and it wouldn't have been the third shift. Also, more hours would've been nice.

Advice

If you're going to work here, you're going to work very hard and for every $ you earn. You'll be sore and sweating the entire time cause of how fast-paced it is.

Program Manager Intern

June - August 2019 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Location and pay were great. Really good people to work with. Able to explore a variety of roles.

What I wish was different

Internship program is a mess: it's difficult to get in contact with anyone. I didn't know when I had to be in Seattle until a week or two before. I was told 3 different answers to any question if they were answered at all. I know most other interns have similar stories.

Advice

Get past the on-boarding process and it will be smoother sailing. Take the opportunity to explore other branches of the business, meet/talk with other managers, and go to company learning events.
